This is Tucker. Sweet boy.
Apparently it’s #nationaldogday. (What would we do without social media to alert us to these important occasions?)
He’s our only dog, and our first baby. We adopted him as a puppy from a local rescue group. He is one of eight puppies in his litter and the biggest and only black/tan combo. A true mutt!
He has been the sweetest and most loving boy. We’ve tried to be good parents but he’s had a rough go and sometimes I feel partly responsible. He had a broken leg when he was just 4 months old (jumped out of someone’s arms onto our wood floor). Earlier this year he had a large cancerous tumor removed from his intestines. And a couple weeks ago we had to have his left eye removed due to sudden and severe glaucoma. (Glaucoma in dogs is more painful and severe than in humans).
I’ve never had a dog before but I sure do love him a lot. He has been so sweet and gentle with all of our children. He’s never bitten anyone. His interests include sleeping on our pillows (we have no boundaries with him, clearly!), barking at delivery vans, sitting on the lap of anyone that sits on our couch, and collecting scraps of meat from our dinners.
Tucker is 9 years old and I don’t know what the future holds for him, but I am so thankful that he came into our life. I hope we’ve been a good family for you Tucker. Thank you for being the sweetest and cutest dog in the world. We love you buddy.
